Milan leads steer wrestling at Calgary Stampede

CALGARY — Canadian Tanner Milan leads the overall steer wrestling standings after three performances at the Calgary Stampede.

The Cochrane, Alta., native scored a 4.0 on Sunday, ahead of K.C. Jones and Casey Martin.

Jones and Martin, both of the United States, had 4.4 scores. Jones is second ahead of the final performance on Monday.

Clint Laye of Cadogan, Alta., has a slight lead in the standings ahead of the fourth performance in the bareback. Laye scored a 84.50, just behind Kyle Bowers of Brooks, Alta., who had an 85.00.

Tanner Byrne of Prince Albert, Sask., scored an 85.00 in the bull riding to finish first in the third performance. Mike Lee of the U.S., managed an 75.50 on Sunday, but still leads the competition.

American Blair Burk leads the tie down roping after a 7.1 in the third performance.

Mary Walker, of the U.S., had a 17.77 in the third performance of the ladies barrel racing. She trails Fallon Taylor in the overall standings with Kamloops, B.C., native Julie Leggett the top Canadian in fifth place.

American Rusty Wright leads the competition in the saddle bronc after a 89.00 in his third performance.
