POKLJUKA, Slovenia — Anton Shipulin of Russia shot clean to win a men’s 10-kilometre sprint on Friday for his first biathlon World Cup victory of the season.
Shipulin finished in 23 minutes, 18.6 seconds to beat Dominik Landertinger of Austria by 11.9 seconds. Norway’s Emil Hegle Svendsen was 29.9 back in third place. Landertinger and Svendsen also shot clean.
Shipulin said "I waited a long time for this win … this is a very important step for me."
Svendsen pulled within eight points of overall World Cup leader Martin Fourcade of France, who was fourth after missing one target.
