Tennis Canada to announce Davis Cup location

Just over two weeks removed from Canada’s historic win over Spain in the first round of the Davis Cup, Tennis Canada will be announcing which city will be hosting Canada’s quarter-final matchup against Italy.

Led by 22-year-old Milos Raonic, Canada stunned the tennis world after the Thornhill native secured a second round berth by defeating Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in straight sets at UBC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Raonic’s win gave Canada a 3-1 lead in their series which they eventually went on to win 3-2.

Canada entered the tournament ranked 12th on the Davis Cup table while Spain was ranked No. 1. After their respective wins, Canada moved up to eighth in the rankings while Italy is ranked ninth.

Canada’s quarter-final matchup against Italy will take place on April 5.
