JEREZ, Spain — Drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne say they are approaching their second season with Toro Rosso with a lot more confidence than they felt going into last year.
Toro Rosso unveiled its new car, the STR8, on Monday, with team principal Franz Tost saying the team’s optimism ahead of winter testing was justified because the drivers "are more experienced" with "a season under their belts."
Ricciardo said he felt like "a more confident person and driver," while Vergne said this year he would "be able to focus on more important aspects of the job."
Tost said the STR8 was the product of a strengthened technical team and a design group led by Luca Furbatto, who has been with the Italian team for just over a year.
