CALGARY – Two young men are dead and six others are injured following an after-hours incident at a Calgary luge-bobsled track.
Calgary police say emergency crews were called to the WinSport facility in northwest Calgary at 1:30 this morning after a report of several injured people on a closed track.
It’s believed at least eight teenagers, all males, entered the property after hours and used toboggans to go down the bobsled track.
Insp. Kelly Campbell says part of the way down the group hit a large gate used to separate the bobsled and luge tracks.
Two died at the scene and the injured were taken to hospital for injuries ranging from minor to serious.
WinSport Canada is co-operating with the investigation, including supplying any CCTV footage that may help with determining how and why this happened.
