UFC roundup: Lauzon meets Etim in August

Dynamic lightweights Joe Lauzon and Terry Etim will meet at UFC on FOX 4 in Los Angeles on Aug. 4, according to Fighters Only.

Lauzon and Etim are two of the top young lightweights in the UFC, but both are coming off highlight-reel knockout losses in their last outings.

Lauzon (21-7) was knocked out by an Anthony Pettis head kick at UFC 144 in Japan on Feb. 26. Lauzon is 8-4 in the UFC with three fight of the night awards and has won submission of the night four times.

Meanwhile, Etim (15-4) was the victim of a spinning heel kick to the face courtesy of Edson Barboza that left the Brit unconscious at UFC 142 in Brazil on Jan. 14.

Featherweight fireworks

The Ultimate Fighter season nine lightweight winner Ross Pearson will make his second appearance at featherweight as he is set to take on WEC veteran Cub Swanson at UFC on FX 4 in June in New Jersey, according to mmajunkie.com.

Pearson (13-5) is coming off a unanimous decision win in his 145-pound debut over veteran Junior Assuncao at UFC 141 in December. The Sunderland, England native is currently assisting Dominick Cruz’s team on TUF: Live.

Swanson (16-5) recently won his first UFC bout as he TKO’d George Roop at UFC on FOX 2 on Jan. 28. Swanson fought eight times in the now-defunct WEC.

— Also at that event, a lightweight bout between TUF 13 finalist Ramsey Nijem and UFC newcomer C.J. Keith will take place on the preliminary card.

Nijem (5-2) is coming off a one-sided decision win over Danny Downes at UFC 137, while Keith is unbeaten in MMA with a record of 8-0.

UFC on FX 4 card will be headlined by Gray Maynard vs. Clay Guida.
