OHL Roundup: Brown’s winner lifts Spitfires

WINDSOR, Ont. — Logan Brown’s power-play goal in the second period stood as the winner as the Windsor Spitfires downed the Barrie Colts 4-2 on Thursday night in a showdown between two Ontario Hockey League division leaders.

Gabriel Vilardi and Aaron Luchuk also scored for Windsor (34-18-6), while Brendan Lemieux put the puck into an empty net for some insurance. Mario Culina made 18 saves in net for the West-Division leading Spitfires, who have won three straight.

Dylan Sadowy and Kevin Labanc replied for the Colts (35-19-2), who lead the Central Division. David Ovsjannikov stopped 30 shots.

Windsor went 1 for 6 on the power play and Barrie was 0 for 3 with the man advantage.

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Aaron Berisha struck twice — including the eventual winner — as London topped the Petes.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Mitchell Marner scored and added two assists for the Knights (42-12-3), who have won four straight. Victor Mete, Owen MacDonald, Olli Juolevi and Max Jones rounded out the attack.

Greg Betzold had a pair of power-play goals for Peterborough (28-24-6), as Nick Grima and Hunter Garlent also scored.
