Heather Moyse is taking another run at more Olympic gold.
But this time the Canadian bobsledder says it’s less about the hardware and more about inspiring the next generation.
In a YouTube video posted Monday, Moyse says she decided to return to the sport after a development athlete reached out to her by email in August.
She says the message changed her perspective about competing again because she realized how much she has to offer younger athletes in helping them achieve their goals.
The 39-year-old from Summerside, P.E.I., teamed with pilot Kaillie Humphries to capture gold at the 2010 Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.
She says she’s not motivated to "just go back and do the same thing again."
"I’m motivated at the idea of potentially coming back and helping someone else with their goals," she said. "It’s not about me winning another Olympic medal."
She says she knows she’ll have to earn her spot on the team for next year’s Games in South Korea just like everyone else.
Moyse, also a former member of the Canadian women’s rugby team, hasn’t competed since 2014.
