Piotr Malachowski may have won a silver medal at Rio 2016, but he has a heart of gold.
According to the Olympian’s Facebook page, he is auctioning the medal to help pay for a three-year-old Polish boy’s cancer treatment, which is not available in Poland. The procedure can only be done in New York, and all of the proceeds will be donated to fund the trip and the treatment.
Malachowski, 33, won the silver medal in discus throwing at the Games this summer. He also won silver at Beijing 2008.
