Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Ready to Rock Fort McMurray, AB with the Inaugural Syncrude Elite 10, March 19-22

TORONTO (March 16, 2015) The biggest and best men’s curling teams are hitting the ice this week as Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling visits Fort McMurray, AB for the inaugural Syncrude Elite 10. Sportsnet’s live coverage from MacDonald Island Park kicks off Thursday, March 19 at 3:30 p.m. ET / 12:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific and Sportsnet NOW (full broadcast details below).

 

The fourth of five events of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season, the Syncrude Elite 10’s star-powered lineup features 10 top men’s curling teams – including world-ranked No. 1 and 2015 Brier silver medallist Team Jacobs and world-ranked No. 2 Team McEwen – competing for a $100,000 purse. Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling’s newest event features a unique match play format, where each game is decided by the number of ends a team wins. Sportsnet’s broadcast gives fans a front row seat to the action at MacDonald Island Park, with Rob Faulds calling play-by-play alongside 1998 Olympic silver medallist Mike Harris, 1998 Olympic gold medallist Joan McCusker, and retired curling icon Kevin Martin.

 

Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling continues to grow, with the Syncrude Elite 10 joining the Masters, National, Canadian Open and Players’ Championship in this season’s lineup, along with a  $1 million purse (see below for dates, venues and ticket information). In January 2015, Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling announced that it will be growing to seven events in the 2015-16 season and to eight events in the 2016-17 season.
