TORONTO (April 6, 2015) As the biggest Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season yet draws to a close, the world’s best men’s and women’s teams are ready to leave everything on the ice at the Players’ Championship in Toronto beginning Tuesday, April 7 at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre. Sportsnet’s live coverage of the event begins Thursday, April 9 at Noon ET / 9 a.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West, Pacific and Sportsnet NOW (full broadcast details below).
The grand finale of the 2014-15 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season will see 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams battle for a $200,000 purse in a round-robin style bonspiel. Included in the men’s competition field is two-time 2014-15 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling victor Team McEwen and 2014 Olympic gold medallist Team Jacobs. On the women’s side, 2014 Olympic gold medallist and 2015 Scotties champ Team Jones headlines the competition field alongside two-time Scotties champion Team Homan.
Sportsnet brings fans the action live from Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, with Rob Faulds calling play-by-play alongside 1998 Olympic silver medallist Mike Harris, 1998 Olympic gold medallist Joan McCusker, and 2010 Olympic gold and 2002 Olympic silver medallist Kevin Martin.
As announced in January, Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling will be growing to seven events for the 2015-16 series and to eight events in 2016-17. Dates and venues for 2015-16 series will be announced on Friday, April 10 during the Players’ Championship.
