SPORTSNET TO BE THE EXCLUSIVE HD BROADCASTER OF THE PRELIMINARY FIGHTS FOR UFC 121
Sportsnet has multi-platform coverage of UFC 121 this weekend
TORONTO (October 21, 2010) – Rogers Sportsnet gets you ready for UFC 121 with exclusive HD broadcasts of the preliminary fights on Saturday, October 23 at 9 p.m. (ET)/6 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE.
The UFC Heavyweight Championship will be up for grabs during UFC 121 as Brock Lesnar defends his title against Cain Valesquez. Lesnar became the heavyweight champion with a defeat of Randy Couture at UFC 91. He has successfully defended his title twice with the latest victory coming against Shane Carwin at UFC 116 in July.
The preliminary fights will include Canadian middleweight Patrick Cote battling Tom Lawlor. After winning four of his last UFC bouts, Cote suffered a devastating knee injury in a fight versus Anderson Silva at UFC 90 in October, 2008. He did not return to the octagon again until UFC 113 in May of this year. He lost to Alan Belcher in the second round by submission.
Sportsnet Connected will also be providing coverage leading up to UFC 121 with nightly reports from "Showdown" Joe Ferraro during the evening and prime editions starting on Thursday, October 21.
