RANGERS VISIT THE LAND OF THE GIANTS AS THE WORLD SERIES BEGINS WEDNESDAY ON SPORTSNET
All games will feature a 30-minute pre-game show with Jamie Campbell and Gregg Zaun
TORONTO (October 26, 2010) – The Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants battle it out for the World Series starting Wednesday, October 27 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT) on Rogers Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific channels.
Before each game, there will be a 30-minute preview show hosted by Jamie Campbell and featuring analysis by current Major Leaguer Gregg Zaun. Barry Davis and Arash Madani will be on location, filing reports on both teams.
It has been a tough road to the World Series for the Rangers as they first met the American League East champion Tampa Bay Rays in the divisional series. The Rangers won the series 3-2, as ace pitcher Cliff Lee won two games, striking out 21 batters and finishing with a 1.13 ERA. Texas then faced the 2009 World Series Champion New York Yankees beating them 4-2, outfielder Josh Hamilton was named the series MVP after hitting four home runs and reaching base 15 times in 28 at-bats.
The San Francisco Giants playoff run began with a hard-fought three games to one series win over the Atlanta Braves in the divisional series with each game decided on by one run. They then moved on to face the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship series, winning the series 4-2. Closer Brian Wilson had three saves and one win while late-season pick-up Cody Ross was named series MVP after hitting .350 with three home runs and five RBI.
