1.5 MILLION CANADIANS TUNED INTO ROGERS SPORTSNET FOR THE NHL ON TUESDAY
Sportsnet once again attracts over a million viewers with four regional NHL broadcasts
TORONTO (February 16, 2011) – Home Team Hockey on Rogers Sportsnet continues to soar as 1.5 million Canadians (2+) tuned in on Tuesday, February 15.
Home Team Hockey is defined as four NHL regional broadcasts spread across the Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific channels on the same night.
Phil Kessel netted two goals in a Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 win over their division-rival Boston Bruins which garnered 767,000 viewers on Sportsnet Ontario. That audience number was up 14 per cent from last season’s average of 656,000. In addition, the Sportsnet Connected prime edition following the Leafs game brought in 483,000 viewers.
The Vancouver Canucks remained in first-place overall with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild and attracted an audience of 377,000 on Sportsnet Pacific.
The Edmonton Oilers 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Sportsnet West was watched by 195,000, a nine per cent increase over last year’s 177,000 average audience. The Ottawa Senators 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Islanders on Sportsnet East recorded an audience of 160,000.
