NO. 1 MISSISSAUGA HOSTS LONDON IN OHL ACTION THIS FRIDAY ON SPORTSNET
Sportsnet will also have Quebec and Drummondville game this Sunday
TORONTO (March 3, 2011) – The Ontario Hockey League’s No.1 team, the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, look to win their second straight when they host the London Knights on Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m. (ET) on Rogers Sportsnet Ontario.
Dan Dunleavy provides the play-by-play from the Hershey Centre while Sam Cosentino handles the analysis.
In addition, Sportsnet will also present the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League visiting the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Sunday, March 6 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT) on the Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific channels. Dunleavy and Cosentino will return as the broadcast team. ** Please note, Sportsnet West will broadcast the game on tape delay at 11 p.m. (MT).
The Majors are the top team in the OHL with 90 points and currently sit fourth in the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings – the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs are first. Mississauga is coming off a 6-1 win over the Belleville Bulls on Sunday. Mississauga is the host city for the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup from May 20-29, with all games featured on Sportsnet. London has clinched a playoff berth and is led in scoring by Russian forward Vladislav Namestnikov with 64 points. Namestnikov was ranked 17th by NHL Central Scouting for their mid-term rankings going into the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Drummondville’s Sean Couturier, the second-ranked skater by NHL Central Scouting, continues to lead the team in scoring with 89 points in 52 games. The Voltigeurs have won eight in a row and are ranked fourth-overall in the QMJHL, just behind Quebec who sit third. Quebec netminder Louis Domingue is the league leader in wins with 33. The Remparts are 1-1 against Drummondville this season.
