ROGERS SPORTSNET GARNERS BIG NUMBERS IN BLUE JAYS SWEEP OVER THE TWINS
Audience numbers for the weekend series 13% above the season average
TORONTO (May 16, 2011) – Rogers Sportsnet audiences numbers continue to climb as the Toronto Blue Jays weekend sweep of the Minnesota Twins had an average audience of 592,000, 13% above the season average of 512,000.
In Friday’s opener, Ricky Romero took a shutout into the ninth inning as the Jays beat the Twins 2-0. The average audience for the game was 619,000, 17% above the season average. On Saturday, the Jays exploded for six runs in the top of the 11th inning to win 9-3. The audience was 591,000, 13% above the season average. In Sunday’s finale, Jose Bautista’s three home runs led the Jays to an 11-3 win and the audience was 566,000, 9% above the season average
The average audience for Jays broadcasts in April on Sportsnet was 538,000, a whopping 34% above the 2010 season average of 401,000. The Blue Jays begin a run of games on 17 straight days on Sportsnet, including match-ups versus the New York Yankees, Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians.
