SPORTSNET PRESENTS FIRST LEG OF NUTRILITE CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL BETWEEN TORONTO AND VANCOUVER

Sportsnet will also feature the second leg next week

TORONTO (May 17, 2011) – Rogers Sportsnet is your destination for the Nutrilite Canadian Championship Final when defending champion Toronto FC meets Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the first leg of the home-and away series on Wednesday, May 18 at 10 p.m. (ET)/7 p.m. (PT) on the Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific channels. The match will also be available in high definition and streamed live on sportsnet.ca.

Gerry Dobson will have the play-by-play while former Canadian soccer keeper Craig Forrest provides the analysis. Joey Kenward will be the Touchline reporter.

Sportsnet will also televise the second leg of the championship final on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT) on the Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific channels.

Toronto is seeking their third straight Voyageurs Cup. Earlier in the tournament, TFC blanked FC Edmonton twice by 3-0 and 1-0 scores. TFC captain Maicon Santos and forward Alex Gordon have both scored a pair of goals in the first two games over Edmonton. The Reds are now unbeaten in seven-straight Nutrilite matches dating back to 2009 and have not allowed a goal in six-straight Nutrilite matches dating back to last year.

Vancouver knocked out the Montreal Impact by an aggregate score of 2-1. Whitecaps’ Terry Dunfield and Mouloud Akloul scored over Montreal during their series with Montreal.
