‘DA SPYDER’ SPINS HIS WEB AS PART OF THE PRELIMINARY FIGHTS OF UFC 130 ON ROGERS SPORTSNET
Sportsnet will be the only network in Canada airing the prelims of UFC 130 in High Definition
TORONTO (May 26, 2011) –Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove highlights the preliminary fights of UFC 130 on Saturday, May 28 at 8:00 p.m. (ET)/5:00 p.m. (PT) on Rogers Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific.
Sportsnet is the only network in Canada broadcasting the UFC preliminary fights in HD.
Grove won season 3 of the Ultimate Fighter and since then he has compiled a record of 6-5. His opponent at UFC 130 will be Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch. Boetsch is a former Light Heavyweight Champion in the 5150 Combat League and has cut weight to fight Grove as a middleweight.
The other preliminary fight will be a bantamweight bout between Miguel Torres and Demetrious Johnson. It will be the second UFC fight for both Torres and Johnson who both came over from World Extreme Cagefighting as part of the October 2010 merger. Both won their debuts as part of UFC 126 in February of this year.
The main card of UFC 130 features a couple of former champs trying to move back up the ranks as former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson battles Matt “The Hammer” Hamill and former Heavyweight Champ Frank Mir takes on Roy “Big Country” Nelson.
Sportsnet Connected will also provide coverage leading up to UFC 130 with nightly reports hosted by “Showdown” Joe Ferraro during the evening and prime editions starting on Thursday, May 26. For even more coverage, sportsnet.ca will have live streaming of the UFC 130 Official Weigh-in on Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT) and the Post Fight Press Conference on Saturday, May 28 after the event ends.
