The Exclusive Live Canadian Broadcast of UFC 138 Highlights the Weekly Schedule on Sportsnet

TORONTO (Oct. 31, 2011) – Sportsnet kicks off November with Can’t Miss Events including the exclusive live Canadian broadcast of UFC 138, continued action from the Group Stage of the UEFA Champions League and a full slate of weekend games from the Barclays Premier League.
UFC 138
Sportsnet is the only network in Canada to be broadcasting the main card of UFC 138 live on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. (ET)/1 p.m. (PT). The main event on the card for UFC 138 features former WEC middleweight champion Chris Leben (22-7) against Mark Munoz (11-2) and is the first non-title five round fight in the history of the UFC. Other bouts on the main card include a bantamweight tilt between Renan Barao (26-1-1) and Brad Pickett (21-4). Barao is currently riding a 26-fight winning streak while Pickett has only lost once in the last 4 years. Sportsnet Connected will also provide coverage leading up to UFC 138 with nightly reports hosted by “Showdown” Joe Ferraro during the evening and prime editions starting on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
UEFA Champions League
Arsenal can advance to the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League with a win over the French squad Marseille on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m. (ET)/12:30 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific channels. R.J. Broadhead and Craig Forrest will preview the UEFA Champions matches on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific prior to each match, also providing halftime and post-game analysis.

Rob Faulds and Forrest host SOCCER CENTRAL on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m. (ET)/12:30 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE, focusing on all the weekend’s action from around the league. Men’s Tennis – Swiss Indoors
Novak Djokovic, the world’s number one-ranked male tennis player, returns from back injury in the Swiss Indoors tournament as Sportsnet ONE serves up early round coverage on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. (ET)/8 a.m. (PT). Djokovic has not played since withdrawing from a Davis Cup match in September of this year. The men’s draw for Swiss Indoors will also feature Switzerland’s native son Roger Federer who has won the tourney four out of the last five years.
