Sportsnet Heads to the Nation’s Capital for Friday Night Hockey as part of the Network’s Can’t Miss Events This Week

TORONTO (Nov. 28, 2011) – Questions as to who will win the World Group of the Davis Cup, who will be the next Ultimate Fighter and whether Ottawa can continue to lead the OHL East Conference will all be answered during Sportsnet's Can’t Miss Events this week.

Friday Night Hockey – CHL Game of the Week

The Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s entertain the Windsor Spitfires on Sportsnet’s Friday Night Hockey on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario and Sportsnet Pacific. Every Friday night of the 2011-2012 regular season, Sportsnet will televise a CHL game in high definition.

The 67’s currently lead the Eastern Conference by three points over the Brampton Battalion and lead their own division by two points over the Peterborough Petes. Tyler Toffoli, second round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings last season, is currently leading the team in points with 43. He won the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy last season as the top scorer in the Ontario Hockey League.

Friday Night Hockey broadcasts will be handled by play-by-play announcer RJ Broadhead, analyst Sam Cosentino, and host Rob Faulds. HOCKEY CENTRAL host Daren Millard and analyst Damien Cox will be in studio to preview Friday's game.

On sportsnet.ca, columnist Patrick King will take a deeper look each week at the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Cosentino will also appear on the website with a weekly blog and discuss CHL news on Skype chats with fans.

On radio, Sportsnet 590 The FAN and Sportsnet 960 The FAN will provide regular updates on game results and stats.

Barclays Premier League

League-leading Manchester City welcome Norwich as part of Sportsnet’s weekend Barclays Premier League schedule on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. (ET)/7 a.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE.

Gerry Dobson and Craig Forrest host SoccerCentral on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2:30 p.m. (ET)/11:30 a.m. (PT) on Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific, focusing on all the weekend’s action from around the league.

The Ultimate Fighter – Season Finale

Sportsnet is the only network in Canada to be broadcasting the finale of the 14th season of The Ultimate Fighter live and in HD on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 9 p.m. (ET)/6 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific.

Dennis Bermudez is already into the finals representing the featherweights and T.J. Dillashaw is in for the bantamweight bracket. Bermudez will await the winner of the of the Bryan Caraway and Diego Brandao fight while Dillashaw will take on the winner of John Dodson and Johnny Bedford.

The broadcast of the last two semifinals will air on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 10 p.m. (ET)/7 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific.

The main card for this event will be highlighted by a middleweight tilt between this season’s two coaches, Michael Bisping and Jason Miller. Bisping is currently riding a three fight winning streak while it is Miller’s first UFC fight since losing to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 52 in April 2005.

Davis Cup – Spain vs. Argentina

Rafael Nadal leads Team Spain into the finals of the Davis Cup for the World Group versus Argentina starting on Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 a.m. (ET)/5 a.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE.

The three-day event will feature two singles matches on the Friday, followed by a doubles match on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. (ET)/7 a.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE and finishing off with two singles matches on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 7 a.m. (ET)/4 a.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE. The country that wins three of the five matches over the weekend will be declared the winner.

All matches will also be streamed live on sportsnet.ca.
