TORONTO (December 12, 2011) – Sportsnet 590 The FAN announced today that Tim Micallef and Sid Seixeiro are the new co-hosts of the afternoon show, Tim and Sid. Beginning today, the duo will anchor the weekday timeslot from 1 to 4 p.m. ET and debate the hot-button issues from the world of sports.
“Tim and Sid are well-known personalities in the sports-talk genre and have a huge following,” said Don Kollins, Program Director, Sportsnet 590 The FAN. “They bring a strong social network and podcast following to the station. Two big personalities, two incredible sports guys, and usually two very different opinions. They provide a great lead-in each day to Bob McCown and Prime Time Sports.”
In addition to radio, Tim and Sid can also be heard online and via podcasts on sportsnet590.ca, as well as on podcasts available on iTunes.
"I am really excited to take my talents to Sportsnet 590 The FAN,” said Micallef. “I've been listening to the station since I was a kid and it just feels right to be a part of a lineup that has become a fabric of not only Toronto's sports landscape, but the entire country. I can't wait to bring our unique and ‘edu-taining’ style back to the masses." "Some of the best broadcasting talent this country's ever produced has worked at this station and I realize the bar's been set very high,” said Seixeiro. “I've been listening to the Fan 590 since 1992, and in many respects working here is a dream come true. I can't wait to get started."
Both Micallef and Seixeiro are highly prominent in the Twitterverse – with followers known as “TimandSid-izens” – garnering more than 28,000 followers on their official Twitter pages @tim_micallef and @sid_seixeiro.
Micallef and Seixeiro were recently at The Score for 13 years and co-hosts of Tim and Sid: Uncut, the No.1-ranked sports podcast on iTunes Canada. The duo co-hosted the Gemini nominated “Score Tonight” from 2005-2009. Micallef was host of the network’s longest running show, The Score on the NFL, and was lead play-by-play for 15 CIS National Championship games. Seixeiro was co-host of The Footy Show and its extensive highlight program for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Seixeiro also reported on some of the biggest events in sports including the NHL Playoffs, NBA Playoffs, NCAA Final Four, UFC and the Ryder Cup.
