Six Canadian NHL Match-ups Headline Sportsnet’s Can’t Miss Events: Feb. 7-12, 2012
–Triple serving of NHL regional games on Tuesday and Thursday –
–Fourth round of the FA Cup on Sportsnet World –
–Full slate of Barclays Premier League headlines weekend programming –
TORONTO, ON (February 7, 2012) – This week on Sportsnet…two jam-packed nights of NHL, the fourth round of the FA Cup, and a full weekend of Barclays Premier League fuels sports fans all week long.
NHL
It’s a hot week for hockey as Sportsnet provides a triple dose of NHL regional hockey on Tuesday and Thursday night.
Tuesday, Feb. 7
Sportsnet heads to the nation’s capital as the Ottawa Senators welcome former Sens netminder Brian Elliott and the St. Louis Blues at 7 p.m. ET on Sportsnet East. Dean Brown calls play-by-play and NHL Hall-of-Famer Denis Potvin provides analysis while Jason York reports rinkside with host Ian Mendes. HOCKEY CENTRAL, with host Brad Fay and analysts Brad May and Neil Smith, provide pre-game, intermission and post-game analysis.
Coverage continues on Sportsnet Ontario when the Toronto Maple Leafs hit Manitoba for the final time this season to face the Winnipeg Jets at 8 p.m. ET. HOCKEY CENTRAL analysts Nick Kypreos, Doug MacLean and Scott Morrison join host Daren Millard to preview the match-up and provide analysis both during and immediately following the game from the Sportsnet studio. Joe Bowen handles the play-by-play with Greg Millen as analyst and Paul Hendrick as host.
Sportsnet’s final stop of the night features the Vancouver Canucks visiting the Music City in a Western Conference showdown against the Nashville Predators at 4:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet Pacific. The broadcast features play-by-play announcer John Shorthouse, analyst John Garrett and host Dan Murphy. Prior to puck drop, HOCKEY CENTRAL host Don Taylor is joined by former Canuck and analyst Garry Valk for pre-game and post-game analysis while the HOCKEY CENTRAL panel of Kypreos, MacLean and Millard appear during the intermissions.
Thursday, Feb. 12
Thursday’s coverage begins when the Nashville Predators pay a visit to the Ottawa Senators on Sportsnet East at 7 p.m. ET. During the broadcast, Christine Simpson sits down with former Sen Mike Fisher to discuss his new life in Nashville since being traded from Ottawa in February of 2011.
That same night, the Calgary Flames head south to visit the Phoenix Coyotes at 7 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West. The broadcast features Rob Kerr with play-by-play, former NHLer Charlie Simmer as analyst and host Roger Millions. Jeff Marek presents the HOCKEY CENTRAL pre-game for the Flames broadcast with analysts Brad May and Scott Morrison.
Sportsnet’s NHL coverage for the week is capped off by the Vancouver Canucks taking on the Wild in Minntesota at 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet Pacific.

Barclays Premier League
Barclays Premier League is back on track this weekend as Arsenal takes on Sunderland on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 9:30 a.m. ET / 6:30 a.m. PT followed by third-place Tottenham hosting Newcastle at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific. Gerry Dobson and Craig Forrest will host SOCCER CENTRAL to preview both match-ups followed by the post-game show at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT.
Sportsnet World, the exclusive Canadian provider of Sunday BPL coverage, features table-leader Manchester City meeting Aston Villa on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. PT.

FA Cup – Sportsnet World
FA Cup action continues on Sportsnet World with two Fourth Round Proper replay matches including Sheffield Wednesday hosting Blackpool on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT as well as Middlesbrough and Sunderland on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT. Both matches are as a result of draws between the clubs in their previous meeting. FA Cup matches that end in a draw must be replayed to determine a winner.
