And so the streak now stands at six. But there's no doubt the Reds are piling up the points while not playing their best football. As the head coach says, that's the sign of a good team. But he's also the first to point out that the hunt is still on for scoring help.
In fact, John Carver says Mo Johnston has actually ramped up that search to a new level.
That's where Shola Ameobi enters the picture. The former under-21 England international is now 26 and would no doubt command designated player money. Surely, he's a long shot. But then again that's what they said about David Beckham.
By all accounts Ameobi loves everything North American, from the culture to the sports. John Carver should know. Both Carver and strength and conditioning coach Paul Winsper have known him for years from their days at Newcastle. Does he love the North American lifestyle enough that they can convince him to make the jump?
Maybe, maybe not.
But the fact they are searching so vigorously for a man who can put the ball in the back of the net tells me they're worried about that part of the Toronto attack. The coaching staff is also exhausted over the hours they're putting in preparing this team game in and game out. They also know its going to get worse as the fixtures pile up with the onset of Champions League and World Cup Qualifying.
Carver says he has yet to see anything this city has to offer. It has been nothing but football so far and unless some scoring help does come along, don't expect to see any line-up changes barring injury. Carver is not a fan of the rotation system. He'll put out his best eleven for every match.
Speaking of injuries. Notice how Toronto doesn't have any this year? And they're playing on Field turf. Winsper says field turf doesn't cause injury. Bad training methods do. He may have a point.
