I got it all wrong on the final match day in Group A.
I didn't care that Portugal had nothing to play for. I didn't care that boss man Scolari would make a multitude of changes to his starting XI. I didn't care that the Swiss would be buoyed by the home crowd in Basel. I agreed with their own manager, Mr. Kuhn, who said Portugal does not have a "B" team.
So this is the beauty of the game, isn't it?
It was a feel-good story with Switzerland bowing out with grace and dignity for their retiring boss. I think Switzerland deserved better as well. They had some bad luck in the early going or they might still be playing.
