Well now, wasn't that something. Just when you think it's safe to go to the fridge for a beer, well, I guess it's never safe to go to the fridge until the final whistle.
At the outset we had the Croatia-Turkey matched billed as something special. Two teams which have plenty of fight in them. Two coaches who are so volatile, you never know what to expect from them. And a bunch of players on both sides who aren't afraid to dive into the mixer. There were eight Turks in the starting eleven who were on yellow cards before this one started. Game on we thought. This one could be a hell-raiser.
And it started off all right. But after Ivica Olic stunningly missed in the 19th minute, something went haywire. This match lost something. It faded away. Our predictions went out the window. It lacked flare, it lacked punch, and more importantly it lacked goals…until the very end that is.
