Despite all the major upsets and unexpected finishes to many of the matches at Euro 2008, we're left with one basic fact: The two teams who were favored to meet in the final before this tournament began, will indeed kick off against each other in the championship match.

The only thing that might have changed is the favourite. Germany was the betting choice at the outset. I'm not sure that would be the case now. When Spain passes the ball through the midfield and into the attacking zone as they were against Russia, they look unbeatable. This same Russian team that demolished the high-flying Dutch in extra time looked bewildered and disconsolate in the later stages against the stylish team from Spain. They had nothing left.

As my partner Dick Howard likes to say, the ball never gets tired. Take advantage of that fact. The Spaniards performed that task to perfection.

So now we are left with this: Spain has scored 11 goals in the tournament, Germany has notched 10. Wonderful! Attacking football has won at this tournament.
