There hasn't been much player movement with Toronto FC lately.
But on Tuesday the team picked up Canadian International Adrian Serioux and it is expected he will be training with the team on Wednesday.
There's one centre back problem solved.
Mo Johnston's cell phone was glued to his ear all day and it appears as though the hunt for another one is nearly complete.
Portuguese defender Miguel Garcia is in camp and lined up at right back as Toronto FC demolished Swedish first division side Hacken 3-0 Monday afternoon.
Garcia is 26 and he spent a number of years with Sporting Lisbon. He was in the lineup when they lost the UEFA Cup final to CSKA Moscow a few years back.
I’m not sure if he'll make it here, however.
There are also a handful of try-outs in town from various corners of the globe, but nothing firm to report.
The site for Monday's match was a little unusual. The Broward County Regional Sports Park near Fort Lauderdale has a spanking new cricket oval complete with a 2,000 seat grandstand. The soccer pitch drawn out on the oval was as wide as I've seen, but it didn't matter to the Reds as two of the goals came from crosses.
Carl Robinson smashed one of them home from the top of the box. Pablo Vitti headed in another from a Rohan Ricketts cross. The third came from a Dwayne De Rosario header off an Amado Guevara corner kick. Head coach John Carver was pleased with the performance, adding that it was their first full 90-minute match of the pre-season.
He's also licking his chops these days in anticipation of more upcoming personnel moves. On the injury front there are a couple of things. Marvel Wynne is keeping the ice on a nagging hamstring, but it’s nothing serious.
And Goalkeeper Greg Sutton dislocated a pinky finger stabbing at a ball in training the other day. It won't pose a problem either. The only issue right now is keeping tabs on all the newcomers.
