A new day, a new face in training camp for Toronto FC.
But that's not so unusual. That's the way it’s been going since the team arrived for their latest Florida leg of camp. No point in naming names just yet. One day's arrival could be the next day's departure. We've seen that movie before.
That's not the case for one name in particular. The familiar dreadlocks of Adrian Serioux were clearly visible when the players hit the training pitch Tuesday. Only those who didn't play in Monday's impressive 3-0 win over Swedish club Hacken were put through their paces. It was a recovery day for those who did play.
It’s been an interesting few days for the Scarborough, Ontario man. He was at this same Sunrise, Florida location, at the same hotel with Dallas last week and was in the lineup when they played Hacken. He then left for Dallas Sunday to look after some business and flew right back here Monday night as this deal was coming together.
Like De Rosario before him, Serioux is happy to be home in Toronto. He felt the time was right and is looking forward to ending his career with the Reds. As we all know, his preferred position is as a holding midfielder, but the needs here are in defence and so that's likely where he'll be. In fact, that's definitely where he'll be and Serioux is fine with that.
Watch for the complete story on Serioux on Soccercentral, on Setanta Sports Canada Thursday evening and again on Sportsnet at 12 noon Saturday.
After one training session Tuesday, the entire team had the afternoon off: a shopping trip for some; a golf game for others (wish I was with them); and hanging out at the beach for some others.
It will be back to the pitch for two-a-days starting Wednesday. There could be some more personnel moves by then. We'll keep you posted. And yes, Mo is still on his cell phone.
