What we suspected since Tuesday, became official Thursday.

TFC midfielder Carl Robinson underwent surgery to repair a broken cheekbone and is done for the year.

Given the large salary he's earning and his age (he turns 33 Oct. 13) the likeable Welshman has probably played his last game for the Reds.

Questions continue regarding the circumstances surrounding his collision with a Cote D'Ivoire trialist Tuesday.

Here's the back story: There are three of them and they were originally supposed to arrive last week.

So head coach Chris Cummins figured he'd throw them into the mixer as he had a practice match set up last Thursday that didn't involve the first team. If you remember, they were all given several days off during the bye week.

But due to a change in their itinerary the three never arrived. Instead, they showed up this week when the first team was back on the training pitch. They were cautioned about making reckless challenges. Trialists are always told this.

But most times that advice falls on deaf ears as they're trying to impress their potential employers. This wasn't necessarily a reckless challenge. The rest you know.

This comes at a terrible time.

Amado Guevara is gone with Honduras. He might as well stay there as visions of the World Cup have clouded his vision to the point where he's not much help around here anyway.

Marvell Wynne is out, and Stefan Frei might be. It doesn't look good. But history has also taught us that this team sometimes plays its best while shorthanded.

Nothing less than Toronto's second three-game league winning streak in three years will do.

And as Cummins said Thursday, if this team fails to make the playoffs everyone should be held accountable.

Players, coaches and management will all have questions to answer.
