Out of work since stepping down as coach of Toronto FC in April, John Carver has resurfaced as a candidate for the coaching vacancy at Football League Championship club Peterborough United.

According to The Chronicle UK web site, Carver is “in the running” for the manager’s job at London Road in the aftermath of Darren Ferguson’s departure.

Carver left Toronto FC after just six games in 2009, citing difficulties in adapting to MLS rules and regulations as a reason. The former Newcastle United assistant took over for Mo Johnston in the club's second year and posted a record of 11-15-10 during his one-plus seasons.

Peterborough United fired Ferguson after a 3-1 defeat to Carver's old club Newcastle United on Saturday. Nicknamed 'The Posh', Peterborough sit at the bottom of the table with just two wins in 16 games.
