MONTREAL -- The Montreal Impact will host AC Milan on June 2 in an international friendly at Olympic Stadium.

The Impact also announced a May 23 game against Fiorentina, another Serie A side, at Saputo Stadium.

"These international games will be historic, in great part because of the fine reputation and level of play that will be presented," Impact president Joey Saputo said in a statement.

The Milan friendly will be played on a temporary grass surface at Olympic Stadium. But the Impact say the surface can be used again.

Both games come in the leadup to the World Cup, meaning the teams will be missing some star power. However, both Italian sides come with a rich heritage.

Founded in 1899, AC Milan has a trophy case that includes seven Champions League titles, five UEFA Super Cups, three Intercontinental Cups, two UEFA Cup-Winners' Cups and one Club World Cup.

"There is a huge Italian community in Montreal and in Quebec, and we know there is a very active Milan AC supporters club, so we know we will feel at home in Olympic Stadium," said Milan director Umberto Gandini.

AC Milan, a 17-time Italian champion, is currently third in the Serie A championship while Fiorentina is ranked eighth.

Fiorentina's resume includes an Italian Super Cup, six Italian Cups, as well as two national championships.

Tickets will go on sale April 16 for the Fiorentina match and April 23 for AC Milan.
