What a pity

We all saw it coming, but nothing could stop it.
The warning signs were posted a week ago against Real Salt Lake when Arabe Unido disgraced themselves and the game with one of the most unsporting performances we've ever seen.
Tuesday night's game against Toronto wasn't much better.
CONCACAF should be embarrassed for allowing spectacles like this to take place.
Let’s start with the TV feed of the match.
This has nothing to do with GOL TV of course as they simply pick up the feed from Panama. But the camera work was atrocious and the colours were different from camera-to-camera. Sometimes the pitch was green, sometimes it was brown. Did you see that? And did you notice on free kicks, the player kicking ball was often not even on the screen?
What a shambles.
Kudos to Luke Wileman and Jason DeVos for pulling it off under such difficult circumstances.
There's not even much point in talking about the officials.
We all knew how bad it would be and we also know it will continue that way. Unless CONCACAF sorts this out, and they probably won't, football in this region will continue to get no respect.
Craig Forrest and I spent the evening texting one another all night long in an effort to get out all our frustrations.
It didn't help.
But Toronto FC should beat this team 10 times in 10 attempts no matter what.
Arabe Unido is poor. And somehow Toronto FC finds a way to play down to the level of inferior competition far too often. Raivis Hiscanovics certainly did.
In my opinion that was the worst performance by a Toronto defender this year. The entire debacle was disappointing.
You have to figure the Reds would need to pick up a point on the road and win their home games in order to advance.
This match in Panama afforded the best opportunity to get that precious away point.
And now it’s gone.
What a pity.
