MADRID, Spain -- Real Madrid says midfielder Sami Khedira has twisted a ligament in his right ankle and will be out for an undetermined period of time.
The German international hurt his leg in Madrid's 1-0 win over Malaga in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Khedira has made 19 appearance for Madrid this season.
Jose Mourinho's team is heading into a likely matchup with Barcelona in the Copa del Rey if the Catalan side can protect its 4-0 advantage over Osasuna in the second leg on Thursday.
