MILAN, Italy -- AC Milan says it has extended the contract of coach Massimiliano Allegri for another two years, taking him through to June 2014.
The 44-year-old Allegri, who joined Milan from Cagliari in 2010, said Friday he was glad "to have the opportunity to work for Milan for another two years."
Milan won the Italian league in Allegri's first season in charge and is currently the joint leader with Juventus, having also qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League -- where it faces Arsenal.
The contract extension was announced two days before Allegri's side takes on city rival Inter Milan in Sunday's high-profile derby in Serie A.
