Troublesome knee strikes again

BARCELONA, Spain -- Espanyol forward Sergio Garcia will be sidelined for at least six weeks after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
Garcia felt discomfort in his oft-injured knee before Tuesday's 3-2 win over Mirandes in the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinals, and team doctors opted for surgery after examining the former Spain international on Wednesday.
Espanyol says Garcia, who featured for Spain at the 2008 European Championship, will miss six to eight weeks.
Espanyol is also likely to be without striker Alvaro Vazquez after the player injured his right leg during the cup match. Espanyol was awaiting further tests on the muscle injury before determining a course of action.
