LONDON -- West Ham says the English FA has asked midfielder Ravel Morrison to explain a comment on Twitter that included a gay slur.
Manchester United sold the 19-year-old Morrison to West Ham last week after a series of disciplinary issues.
The English second-tier club says the FA has written Morrison "asking for his observations regarding comments on Twitter."
The tweet has since been deleted.
A statement on the West Ham website says "Ravel and the club will co-operate fully with the FA's request and have until Monday evening to respond."
