ATHENS — Greek club AEK Athens has been relegated from the country’s top football league after losing an appeal.

A panel of officials from the Greek Football Association on Thursday rejected the club’s appeal against a punishment for an April 14 match stopped in the 88th minute due to fan violence.

After losing the appeal, three points were formally subtracted from AEK’s league total, leaving it in 15th place with 27 points from 30 matches. Kerkyra finished last, in 16th place with 20 points.

Olympiakos won this year’s title with 77 points, its third straight league championship.
