TURIN, Italy — Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has indicated that Carlos Tevez’s expected transfer to Boca Juniors will be completed in "a few days."
Speaking at a news conference Monday, Agnelli says, "In January he told us of his desire to return to Argentina for family reasons. As of today he’s still a Juventus player. The rest is a question of a few days."
Boca president Daniel Angelici said last month that Tevez would sign with the club when the Copa America ended — Tevez was on the Argentina squad that lost to Chile in Saturday’s final.
Tevez was a fan favourite when he played for Boca from 2001-2004 and he has repeatedly said he wants to end his career with the Buenos Aires club.
While scoring 50 goals for Juventus over the past two seasons, Tevez often celebrated by displaying undershirts bearing the names of different Buenos Aires neighbourhoods.
