Alves to return for Champions League opener

BARCELONA, Spain — Barcelona defender Dani Alves has recovered from a left knee problem and has been included in the team’s squad for its Champions League opener.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has also included Brazilian back Douglas for the first time since his signing.

Barcelona plays Cypriot club APOEL at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Luis Enrique has dropped Spain internationals Pedro Rodriguez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, along with Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano, from the squad that beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on Saturday.
