BARCELONA, Spain — Barcelona’s sports director says it is trying to secure the transfer of Spain striker Paco Alcacer from rival Valencia.
Robert Fernandez says the Liga champion wants Alcacer to reinforce Barcelona’s already top-class attack formed by Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar.
Fernandez says "it will be Paco Alcacer or nobody."
The transfer window will close on Wednesday.
Spanish media has been speculating about the move of Alcacer as Barcelona seeks a striker who would be willing to act mainly as a backup to its trio of stars and make the most of limited minutes.
The 22-year-old Alcacer is considered one of Spain’s promising young talents. He has 30 goals in the Spanish league in three seasons with Valencia.
