TORONTO — Canadians Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence of the West Virginia Mountaineers have been named first team all-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

It’s the third straight first-team honour for Buchanan. The centre back from Brampton, Ont., who earned second-team honours as a freshman, is the first Mountaineer in program history to earn all-America status in each season.

Lawrence, a defender-midfielder from Toronto, made the all-American first team for the second straight season.

Buchanan and Lawrence, both semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy, also earned Senior CLASS Award All-America accolades Friday. Buchanan was named to the first team and Lawrence the second.

The four-time reigning Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Buchanan helped the Mountaineer defence record a program-record 17 shutouts.

Lawrence led the No. 1-ranked and top-seeded Mountaineers with 10 assists ahead of Friday’s NCAA tournament semifinal against No. 6 Duke.
