FRANKFURT — The Bundesliga has increased revenues for the 10th straight season, with 13 of 18 clubs making a profit in the 2013-14 season.

The figures released on Thursday show the Bundesliga’s revenue rising to 2.45 billion euros ($2.85 billion), a jump of 12.9 per cent on the previous season.

The revenue growth was not invested entirely in player salaries. Payroll costs for players relative to revenues of the clubs dropped to an average of 36.8 per cent from 42.4 per cent the previous season. The European average is 65 per cent, according to UEFA.

The players still earned 53 million euros more, totalling 900 million euros.

The Bundesliga employs more than 48,000 people.

Champion Bayern Munich is the biggest club, with revenue of 487.5 million euros last season.
