ROSEAU, Dominica – Canada will start its 2018 World Cup qualifying road against CONCACAF minnow Dominica.
Dominica, ranked No. 181 in the world by FIFA, disposed of No. 201 British Virgin Islands 3-2 on aggregate after a 0-0 tie Sunday.
Canada, ranked 116th, will host Dominica on June 8 at Toronto’s BMO Field. The return leg is June 16.
The Canada-Dominica winner will advance to the third round of CONCACAF qualifying, along with the nine other second-round winners plus Jamaica and Haiti, for another home-and-away series.
Dominica won the first leg 3-2 on Thursday, rallying from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits on two goals from substitute Randolph Peltier and one from Glenworth Elizee.
Eduard Moss and Jordan Johnson scored for the British Virgin Islands.
