TORONTO – The Canadian Soccer Association is awaiting word on Erin McLeod after an injury forced the Canadian international goalkeeper out of FC Rosengard’s 1-0 loss to FFC Frankfurt in Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final.
McLeod, who appeared to go down after kicking the ball, was substituted in the 13th minute in the match at Malmo, Sweden.
An report in Sydsvenskan, a Swedish newspaper, suggested the injury could be serious.
"Thank you everyone for your support," McLeod tweeted Thursday without elaborating.
The 33-year-old from Edmonton has a history of knee injuries with two surgeries to repair her anterior cruciate ligament.
McLeod had to leave the Dec. 20 final of an international tournament in Brazil after falling awkwardly on her right leg in a collision with Brazilian star Marta.
