TORONTO — Major League Soccer has confirmed Toronto midfielder Richie Laryea as one of five underclassmen to sign Generation Adidas contracts ahead of next week’s draft.

The other four are Georgetown University defender Josh Yaro, Clemson University goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell, Syracuse University midfielder Julian Buescher and Wake Forest midfielder Jack Harrison.

Generation Adidas players do not count against an MLS team’s salary budget. They also receive educational grants to further pursue their education.

Laryea is a sophomore who scored a team-high 11 goals for the University of Akron last season. He also had seven assists.

MLS has also signed Stanford defender Brandon Vincent to a contract ahead of the Jan. 14 SuperDraft in Baltimore.
