NYON, Switzerland — UEFA says the Champions League final will be shown live on YouTube for the first time when Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid play on May 28.

UEFA says viewers in Britain can watch the match for free on the video streaming website.

In Spain, broadcast rights holder BeIn Sports will make the game available to subscribers paying to watch its YouTube channel.

Rights for the final in Britain are held by pay-TV broadcaster BT Sports, which is making the match available on its YouTube channel and its own website.

The move follows a drop in British audience ratings for the Champions League after ITV lost its share of live broadcast rights.
