LONDON — France midfielder Yohan Cabaye returned to the Premier League on Friday after joining Crystal Palace from Paris Saint-Germain.
Palace is reported to have paid a club-record fee of 10 million pounds ($15.5 million) for the 29-year-old Cabaye, who signed a three-year contract.
The move reunites Cabaye in south London with manager Alan Pardew, who he worked under for at Newcastle before leaving for PSG in January 2014.
"I wanted to come and play for Palace because there are some really strong players here," Cabaye said. "They finished very well last season and I think they can compete to get into the top eight. I also know the gaffer and have worked with him before and I’m confident with him."
Palace was in the relegation zone when it hired Pardew in January but finished the season four months later in 10th place.
Cabaye made 56 appearances for PSG, winning two French league titles and helping the side to a domestic treble last season.
