HAMBURG — South Korea youth international Seo Young-jae has joined Hamburger SV from Seoul-based side Hanyang University on a busy day for the Bundesliga club.
Hamburg says the 20-year-old Seo has signed a three-year-deal, to 2018, after impressing coach Bruno Labbadia in a trial, and that he will initially join its under-23 team.
Seo, a left back, has played for South Korea’s under-19 and under-21 sides.
Also Tuesday, Czech midfielder Petr Jiracek left Hamburg to sign a four-year deal with Sparta Prague. The 29-year-old scored two goals in 53 Bundesliga games for Hamburg.
Midfielder Kerem Demirbay also left Hamburg Tuesday, joining second-division Fortuna Duesseldorf on loan for one season. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at second-division rival Kaiserslautern, scoring one goal and setting up three more in 22 league games.
