BURNLEY, England — Burnley earned a second win since being promoted back to the English Premier League, beating Watford 2-0 on Monday after another impressive performance by Steven Defour.

The Belgium midfielder set up record signing Jeff Hendrick to nod in a 38th-minute opener from a corner and was also the provider for the second, headed home by Michael Keane in the 50th.

Defour has now scored one and set up three of Burnley’s five goals this season and provided the kind of spark that was lacking from the visitors, who beat Manchester United in their last match.

"Sometimes you get that person in with a bit of calmness, assured in possession, and that rubs off on others," Burnley manager Sean Dyche said of the 28-year-old Defour, who was signed from Anderlecht in August.

Burnley’s only other win was against Liverpool, also at Turf Moor.

"We got bullied all over the pitch, to a man," Watford captain Troy Deeney said.
