MADRID — Romanian striker Florin Andone scored a goal in each half as Deportivo La Coruna routed Real Sociedad 5-1 in the Spanish league to move out of the relegation zone.

The result snapped Deportivo’s six-game winless streak and moved the team to 16th in the 20-team standings, one point above the bottom three.

“We needed this victory,” Andone said. “We hadn’t won in a long time and the fans deserved a result like this.”

In the next round, Deportivo faces leader Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Real Sociedad, which hadn’t lost in five rounds, could have surpassed Atletico Madrid for fourth place with a victory in La Coruna. It dropped to sixth place with the loss.
